Learning Extensions:
They get a full homework packet on the first day of the week (usually Mondays). We go over the packet to ensure understanding and how it is an extension of our in-school learning. They have until the last day of the week (usually Fridays) to return the homework packet. If there is no school Monday, they will get it Tuesday. If there is no school Friday, they must turn in their packet Thursday.
Their weekly packet includes [I have found it is easiest on scholars and their parents if we have a routine with learning extensions to be done at home]:
1. 2 loose-leaf pages to write their 10 weekly spelling words (10 times each word on each side - 40 times total).
2. 2 double-sided cursive handwriting worksheets to practice writing and reading in cursive.
3. 1 double-sided informational text worksheet to determine the who, what, whay, when, where, how in a passage.
4. 1 double-sided grammar practice sheet (verbs, adjectives, arranging words into a proper sentence order, etc.).
5. 1 double-sided math practice sheet on the skill we are focusing on that week.
6. 1 double-sided science worksheet on either the content or different science charting/graphing skills.
7. 1 Double-sided social studies worksheet on either the content or mapping/graphing/research skills.
